Larry Ellison was born to a single mother on August 17, 1944 in the Bronx, New York.
His mother gave him to her aunt and uncle at the age of nine months for adoption.
Larry Ellison dropped out from the University of Illinois during the second year of his college after the death of his adopted mother. He again enrolled at the University of Chicago, but dropped out after the first semester.
For the next decade, he switched from one job to another, and worked at Wells Fargo and Amdahl Corporation time.
Larry Ellison started working at Amdahl Corporation and later at Ampex Corporation where he worked on database projects for CIA which he named ‘ORACLE’.
When he found a programming work at Ampex Corporation, Business Insider’s Madeline Stone notes that one of Larry Ellison’s obligations at the organization was building a database for the CIA. In 1977, he and two associates left Ampex to begin a database administration organization of their own.
In the year 2006, he was declared the richest Californian.
In 2010, Larry Ellison was ranked as the sixth richest person in the world and the third richest American.
Larry Ellison is passionate about yachting and in the year 2013, his Oracle Team USA won the America’s Cup after defeating the Emirates Team New Zealand.
Larry Ellison is the owner of over hundreds of Millions of Dollars in real estate around the world. This includes a Rhode Island estate and historic gardens in Kyoto.
