Richard Desmond was born in Hampstead, London, to Cyril and Millie Desmond.
Richard Desmond was conceived in Hampstead, London, into a Jewish family, the most youthful of three youngsters, and experienced childhood in Edgware, in North West London. His dad was plummeted from Latvian Jews, and his mom was of Ukrainian-Jewish plunge.
He did his schooling from Edgware Junior School and went to Christ’s College, Finchley.
He left school at the age of 15 and began working in the characterized notices segment of the Thomson Group.
He started working at the age of fifteen, in the classified advertisements section of Thomson Group & played drums after work.
At the age of eighteen, he became the sales director of Beat Instrumental Magazine and owned two shops at the age of twenty-one.
He established Northern & Shell publishing group and published UK edition of Penthouse in 1982, till 1990. Followed by a few adult titles, Northern & Shell published the celebrity magazine OK!
The readership of OK! is in excess of 31 Million and has 23 editions throughout the world.
In 2000, he acquired Express Newspapers for 125 Million Pounds
In 2010, Richard Desmond bought UK channel ‘Channel 5’ for 103.5 Million Pounds.
